Lescure : Authentic bistro, close to place de la Concorde, opened in 1919. Serves good food (specialities from Limousin) at reasonable prices. Efficient, special service by Bernard. Le Quincy : The colourful owner Michel Bosshard, known as Bobosse, serves fabulous regional specialities (from Burgundy, Berry and Ardèche) in his bistro close to the Gare de Lyon. l’Avant-Goût : Adorable neo-bistro close to place d'Italie, serving a delicious pork casserole elbow-to-elbow with other diners. Original, inexpensive wine list. Chez la vieille : A not-to-be-missed lunchtime classic (dinner on Thursdays only) in Les Halles. Simple, delicious, good plain cooking (terrines, stuffed tomatoes, etc.).

The bistros we have selected for you are informal, simple, friendly and often inexpensive places. You'll eat at close quarters with other diners in a lively atmosphere. Astier : A popular French bistro for dinner at close quarters with your fellow guests. One of the best wine lists in Paris and a superb cheese board. Excellent value for money. Chez Paul : Popular French bistro thanks to the excellence of its old-style setting and its cooking, close to place de la Bastille. Noisy and festive, very handy for dinner after a performance at the Opéra Bastille. A day in Versailles

Set off on a journey of discovery of the Loire Valley, the birthplace of the French Renaissance, and visit some of the principal jewels in its crown: visit to the fabulous chateaux of Chambord and Cheverny (tour of the furnished chateau). Parc Astérix, dedicated to the famous Gaul, is a huge adventure playground in the heart of the countryside, 30 km from Paris.
